《Leader of the band》是民謠詩人 Dan Fogelberg 於 1981年所發行的作品，Dan Fogelberg 為他的父親而唱，也向是音樂人＆樂隊指揮的父親致敬。

父親出生在一個木工家庭，他的雙手原該繼承這件事，他有更想做的事，他拒絕了平凡的命運，即便前面將是條孤獨的路，但他毅然決然踏上了自己的音樂之路，經過時間淬鍊之下他得到了他的最愛，一雙非常柔軟的指揮之手。Dan Fogelberg 與他的兄弟們在長大後各奔前程，而他走的是跟父親相同的音樂之路，他感念身上流著跟父親一樣的熱愛音樂的血液，感謝父親對他追求理想的支持，感謝父親帶給他的音樂與好多好多的故事，有點懊惱未在對的時候及時跟父親說～「我愛你」。
　
這歌述說著父親的人生故事，也流露著充沛的情感，讓人每每聽著也不禁想念起自己的父親，於是～《Leader of the band》漸漸地成了父親節的經典曲目之一。

我的父親也出生在一個木工家庭，他從他的父親（我的爺爺）之那裏傳承了非常厲害的木工技藝，擁有一雙彷彿注入了魔法的手；他也喜歡唱歌，總在工作時聽著唱盤也邊哼著歌，從年輕到老；但～我們卻沒有聊過他是否有沒有完成的夢想，也不習慣說聲「我愛你」。

我們家這五個「木匠兄妹」們也再沒有人繼續木工這項技藝，大家各有不同的路，但也各自流著來自爸爸的巧手之血在不同的點上。我也喜歡唱歌當消遣，甚至為這自我排遣好想學項樂器，去年因為一次因緣我終於上了歌唱課，三月份起我被一則「大人的音樂課」廣告打動了，總算啟動了屬於自己的樂器學習～烏克麗麗，等我學習一段時間後，我也來唱一曲給老爸聽，向他致敬，不知道他會不會喜歡。

收到這首歌很是意外，因為歌有些老，而朋友實在太年輕，我不懂年輕的心為何可以涉獵這麼寬廣的歌路，但我想～愛聽也愛唱歌的人遇到這些溫暖的好歌，肯定是緣分！

聽了一遍又一遍又一遍，真的是首非常溫暖又耐聽的好歌。
